"To clasp the hands in prayer is the beginning of an uprising against the disorder of this world." - Karl Barth
Karl Barth was a swiss Reformed theologian who is known for...well...A LOT! He's been called the greatest theologian of the Western world since Augustine and his masterful 14 volume Church Dogmatics and his highly influential The Epistle to the Romans defend this title.
He is also known for drafting the Barmen Declaration, which was a document the opposed the "German Christian" movement promoted by 1930s and 40s Nazism. Barth was extremely influential in the life of one of our most favorite theologians, Dietrich Bonhoeffer as well.
