Madeleine L'Engle (1918-2007), the infamous writer of 'A Wrinkle in Time', was one of the greatest literary giants of the 20th century. Famous for her opening line of that book, "It was a dark and stormy night", L'Engle was a prolific writer who championed the notion of "a world of imagination" and has led hundreds of thousands of children, teenagers, and adults into a deeper reflection of the self through imaginative reading. She is noteworthy for playing with the concepts of space, time, and faith. L'Engle falls within the literary tradition of C.S. Lewis and George MacDonald.
